LAST-SECOND SHOT
WINS CROSS-COUNTY CLASSIC
FCN Bank was proud to sponsor the Franklin and Fayette County Relay For Life's Cross-County Classic, which pitted the Franklin County Wildcats against the Connersville Spartans, Friday, February 15, at the Spartan Bowl in Connersville.
To get the tradition started right, FCN purchased 2 "Traveling Trophies" for the event, one awarded to the winning basketball team, to be held by them for one year, and one to be given to the school whose student body raiseds the most money in the Beat Cancer in 4 Quarters campaign, also to be held by that school for one year.
In the game, Connersville opened up a big first quarter lead, but the Wildcats battled back throughout a hard fought game. Franklin County took its first lead in the 4th quarter, but then the Spartans battled back.
The game was tied at 51-51 when Connersville's Tucker Brown picked up a loose ball and hit a 3-pointer with one second left on the clock, winning the game for the Spartans 54-51. Tucker then received the trophy for the team from FCN representatives Jim Suhre and Doug Hornsby. Congratulations also to the Connersville student body, who raised over $1000 for the Relay for Life, taking the Student Body trophy.
See you all next year at the 2nd annual Cross County Classic.
